What is ozone?
Ozone is a gas molecule made up of three atoms of oxygen, O3. It was discovered in 1840 by Schonbein and is normally produced by exposing oxygen to a high voltage.
General considerations
It is widely known by the ozone layer, which protects us from ultra-violet rays in the atmosphere.
There is a myth that it is toxic, but it really is when inhaled or exposed to high concentrations of it. If administered by other routes and appropriate doses, is no longer toxic. On the other hand, is known to have a great germicide power, which is capable of destroying both viruses and bacteria, fungi or parasites.
It is shown that when ozone comes in contact with body, fluids generates oxidative stress in our body, stimulating our antioxidant mechanisms that result in the reactivation of our immune system. On the other hand, shifts the oxygen dissociation of hemoglobin for the release of same in the tissues, which increases oxygen in them, growth factor production, increases the release of nitric oxide level, increases the release of stem cells and activation of antioxidant enzymes at the level of bone marrow. Of all these mechanisms of action, it follows that ozone therapy can be extremely useful. |
