Hygiene is one of the main ways to preserve our health. Within this, we must not forget the care of our mouth, as not doing so may result in multiple diseases.
The oral cavity has a highly diverse ecosystem with up to 600 different microbial species colonizing different habitats. Dental plaque is a complex and organized communities of microorganisms that can work together and lead to the creation of favorable conditions to the survival of the bacterial species most demanding.
Bacteria found in plaque are responsible for the etiology of the two major oral diseases: dental caries and periodontitis. In our center we cover major dental services, whether corrective, preventive or aesthetic.
Basic guidelines for proper oral hygiene
1.- Clean your teeth daily: use proper brushing technique. You must use a suitable brush to ensure its effectiveness and ensure the cleanliness of the spaces between teeth using floss/tape dental or interproximal brushes. The toothpaste complements the action of brushing.
2.- Clean tongue.
3.- Use oral irrigators.
4.- Make mouthwash (for daily use or specific as required).
5.- Watch consumption of sugary foods or sweets: the ideal is to avoid eating them but, if consumed, it is important to wash your teeth after.
6.- Going to the dentist regularly: it is recommended to visit the dentist to perform a review of the mouth for at least 1-2 times a year.
